Feedwater Audit & Programme Design

Send us a feedwater sample. We come back with the chemistry — what's in it, what it's going to do to your plant, what to dose against it, and at what set-points. Most engagements pay for themselves on the first scale event we help you avoid.

What this engagement covers

Four pieces of work, run together.

Lab analysis of feed and process water
ICP-OES on hardness, alkalinity, silica, iron, manganese, dissolved organics, conductivity, pH, turbidity, ORP. Pulled to recognised standards (APHA, ISO 5667 for sampling). Reports come back in 5 working days for a standard panel.
Scaling and corrosion index calculation
Langelier Saturation Index (LSI), Stiff & Davis Stability Index (S&DSI for high-TDS waters), Ryznar Stability Index, calcium carbonate saturation, calcium sulphate saturation, silica saturation. We model these against your operating envelope — recovery rate, concentration cycles, temperature swing — not against a textbook.
Programme design
Specific products, specific dosing rates, specific monitoring points. PAC for pretreatment if turbidity is high, antiscalant grade and dosage for the RO based on saturation, biocide rotation cadence for the cooling system. Written deliverable, reviewed in person before sign-off.
KPI targets and review schedule
What you should be measuring, at what frequency, with what thresholds. We set the targets, you run them, we revisit at 30/60/90 days to validate or recalibrate.
Engage us when

The signals that point at this service.

  • Building a new plant and need a chemistry programme spec'd into the procurement
  • Inheriting an old plant where the previous chemistry programme was 'whatever the last vendor sent us'
  • Switching feedwater source (canal → bore, surface → recycled) and your existing programme suddenly stops working
  • RO membrane cleaning frequency has crept up and you don't know why
  • Procurement officer wants a documented programme on file for ISO audit
Process

How a typical engagement runs.

01

Discovery call

30-45 minutes on the phone or at your plant. We learn what the plant is, what the operating envelope looks like, and what's prompting the audit.

02

Sampling and lab work

We send sample bottles or pull samples on-site. Lab turnaround is typically 5 working days. We share raw data.

03

Modelling and programme draft

We run scaling/corrosion indices against the analysis, model concentration limits, and draft a programme. Takes 3-5 days after lab data is in hand.

04

Site review meeting

Hour-long walk-through of the draft with the plant manager and operations lead. We modify the programme based on what we hear about practical operating constraints.

05

Final deliverable + commercial proposal

Written programme, dosing rates, monitoring sheet template, and a commercial proposal for chemistry supply. Buyer can take the programme without taking the chemistry from us — though most don't.

Pricing

What this typically costs.

Standalone audits run PKR 280,000 – PKR 750,000 depending on scope (number of sample points, complexity of process, on-site visit days). Bundled into a chemistry-supply contract, the audit is typically delivered at no separate fee — recovered through the supply margin over the first six months.

Common questions

What buyers ask before signing.

How long does a feedwater audit take end-to-end?

From kickoff call to signed-off programme: 3-4 weeks for a standard plant, 6-8 weeks for a complex multi-train RO + cooling + boiler combination. The bulk of the elapsed time is lab turnaround and waiting for site-visit slots; our engineering work is roughly 5-8 working days for a standard scope.

Do I have to use AA Solutions chemistry after the audit?

No. The programme deliverable is a written specification — products, doses, set-points, KPIs — that any qualified vendor could supply. Most clients choose to bundle supply with us because we already understand the programme intimately, but you're not tied in.

What's the difference between a feedwater audit and what my chemistry vendor's salesman does?

A salesman walks the plant and recommends his three products. An audit produces lab data, scaling indices, and a programme that names specific dosages against your operating envelope — not against the vendor's catalogue. You can take an audit and shop it; you cannot do that with a sales pitch.

Can you audit a plant in Lahore / Faisalabad / Multan / Hyderabad?

Yes. Our engineering team is based in Karachi but we travel for site visits. Out-of-Karachi engagements add 1-2 days of site time and travel cost; for plants in Punjab or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa we typically combine multiple client visits into a single trip to keep the cost down.

Will you sample the water yourselves or do I send it to you?

Either. For complex plants or first-time engagements we usually pull samples on-site to ensure the chain of custody is clean. For simpler scope or where the plant has competent lab staff, we send sample bottles with detailed instructions and have you ship them to us.

Do you handle wastewater / effluent audits as well as supply water?

Yes — same methodology, different parameters. ETP feed audits look at COD, BOD, TSS, oil-and-grease, sulphides, heavy metals, and treatability. We run jar tests for coagulant selection and shake-flask tests for biotreatability.
