PAC for Municipal Water Treatment in Lahore
Drinking-water-grade PAC for WASA Lahore-served treatment works and private municipal-scale systems. Per-batch heavy-metals CoA, drinking-water-spec Al₂O₃ ≥ 12% liquid.
WASA Lahore serves around 13 million people across the metropolitan area. Production runs through tubewells (200+ wells across the city) plus surface-water filtration plants tied to the BRBD canal and Ravi inflows. Coagulation/flocculation is the pivot stage on every surface-water plant in the chain.
Lahore's 2025 drinking-water audits flagged manganese, iron, and turbidity excursions on multiple Ravi-fed intake points, especially during monsoon-driven turbidity spikes (1,000+ NTU events not unusual June–September). PAC at the right basicity handles both colour and turbidity in a single coagulation stage.
Heavy-metals spec is the structural concern: drinking water PAC has to land within WHO-aligned limits; As ≤ 0.0002%, Hg ≤ 0.00001%, Pb ≤ 0.001%, Cd ≤ 0.0002%, Cr⁶⁺ ≤ 0.0005%. Industrial-grade PAC fails these. AAS supplies the drinking-water grade specifically, with per-batch heavy-metals assay on the CoA.
Logistics: Karachi-Lahore is 2–4 days on stock-spec PAC. We can split a container between a Lahore municipal account and an industrial Faisalabad account if dispatch is co-ordinated.
Drinking-water grade PAC: Al₂O₃ ≥ 12% liquid / ≥ 32% solid, basicity 60–85%, density 1.21+ g/cm³, water-insoluble ≤ 0.2%. Heavy-metals: As ≤ 0.0002%, Hg ≤ 0.00001%, Pb ≤ 0.001%, Cd ≤ 0.0002%, Cr⁶⁺ ≤ 0.0005%; landing comfortably inside the WHO drinking-water guideline envelope. Per-batch CoA on every drum.
- Stage: rapid-mix tank ahead of the flocculator at the municipal water-treatment plant.
- Function: charge-neutralises the colloidal turbidity, colour bodies, and dissolved organic matter in the raw water. Forms compact flocs that settle in the sedimentation basin or are floated by DAF.
- Dose range: 15–60 ppm depending on raw-water turbidity, alkalinity, and seasonal load. Jar-test on each shift's intake water; we provide the jar-test SOP and dose-curve chart.
- pH window: PAC works from pH 5.0 to 9.0, which is forgiving for canal/river water that swings with seasonal alkalinity changes. No need to acid-trim ahead of the rapid-mix in most cases.
- Sludge: PAC produces compact, dense sludge that dewaters cleanly on belt presses or drying beds. Lower volume than aluminium-sulphate sludge for the same turbidity load.
